TITLE: Goat Save The Queen
YEAR: 2022
INSPIRATION: With my stackable animal series I aim to let my love of animals shine through using quirky fun designs and promoting species that need supporting. This painting celebrates everything goaty! I’ve always loved goats with their happy go lucky nature, they without a doubt put a smile on my face, and when I realised I’d never painted one…I got to work rectifying that. This piece started out as a complete unashamed way of showing off goats and to highlight a few of the rare breeds that are currently at risk (top to bottom Golden Guernsey, Bagot and Old English). However as I got to work the Queen’s Platinum jubilee loomed and I was inspired to give these goats a punk makeover in honour of the song God Save The Queen by The Sex Pistols, plus I couldn’t resist a goat pun title for this painting. I’m so glad I changed my idea along the way as the result is a much more fun design that shows each goats personality in a unique way.
