TITLE: I Found You
YEAR: 2023
INSPIRATION: This artwork was created to celebrate the intimate bond shared between two Asian elephants… a species that is sadly endangered. I wanted to capture a feeling between them, a quiet closeness. My aim was to highlight their vulnerability by showing them in a private moment. I kept the background soft and muted so the focus stays on the elephants themselves, and used some of my own reference photos from Chester Zoo to help tell their story. The composition was chosen very deliberately. By placing them towards the bottom of the canvas, it gives the impression that they’ve stepped forward to share this moment with us. It’s a gentle reminder that these creatures are not just majestic, they’re emotional, intelligent and deeply connected.
