TITLE: I Found You
YEAR: 2023
INSPIRATION: In this artwork, my aim was to encapsulate the intimate bond shared between two Asian elephants, a species that is, regrettably, endangered. I wanted to capture a feeling between the two elephants, the close relationship between them and ultimately hoped it would resonate with admirers of this species. I wanted to draw attention to the plight of theses beautiful animals and show their vulnerability as a species by capturing them in a private moment. I kept the background quite muted and out of focus so our attention is drawn to the elephants themselves, and used some of my own reference photos from Chester Zoo to create this story. I’ve also chosen my composition very carefully, by putting them towards the bottom of the canvas it gives the impression that they’ve come closer to share this beautiful moment with us.
