INSPIRATION: This painting was inspired by a speckled pigeon I saw at Welsh Mountain Zoo, huddled against the wind with its head tucked in, looking warm and content. So different from the usual street pigeon, it had a plump body and a vivid red eye patch that gave it a somewhat regal presence. There was something about the way it held itself that inspired me. I wanted to capture that moment of calm and resilience, the gentle defiance against the cold, and the quiet dignity of a bird often overlooked.
