INSPIRATION: Seeing a toucan for the first time at Tenerife’s Jungle Park was truly magical. It was smaller than expected yet striking with its vibrant colours and oversized beak, this bird was so inspiring. Despite its small stature, the toucan has a mighty role in its rainforest home, aiding in seed dispersal and ecosystem balance. In this piece, I chose to position the toucan small within a vast, colourful background to reflect both its physical size and its immense presence in the natural world. This contrast highlights the toucan’s ability to captivate and command attention, even among the lush vibrancy of its environment. As deforestation continues to threaten their habitats, this painting celebrates the toucan’s beauty, resilience, and the joy it brings to those lucky enough to encounter it.
