TITLE: The Look Out
YEAR: 2023
INSPIRATION: During my encounter with the meerkats at Chester Zoo, I was instantly inspired to paint them. They were so engrossed in their vigilant watch that they hardly noticed our presence, but their upright stance was endearing. I couldn’t resist the urge to depict one meerkat perched on another’s shoulders, enhancing its vantage point. I’m pleased with this decision as it seems to capture the quintessential meerkat persona – playful and boisterous. This painting not only reflects their physical attributes but also their lively spirit, making it a true representation of these fascinating creatures.
