The Royal Observer – Original Painting

£140.00

33x43cm Framed

TITLE: The Royal Observer

YEAR: 2023

INSPIRATION: I love how flamboyant peacocks are, they’re so bright and colourful but you really only see their bold feathers when they’re either trying to attract a mate or to scare off predators. They’ll spread their feathers and put on a show as part of a ritual courtship, it’s then up to the peahen to decide if she likes what she sees. It’s fascinating to think that those unique feathers can be used to not only attract or to defend depending on what situation the peacock is in. When I saw a group of peacocks at a local farm, this one came up to the front of the enclosure to get a better look at us, I managed to snap a few pictures, and was happy to say that he didn’t feel the need to scare us off. Although seeing the eyes on his feathers would have been amazing, he’s beautiful just as he is and it’s nice to know that he didn’t feel threatened by us, just curious.
