About Wild Lives
Wild Lives is my celebration of the animals we share our planet with, the curious ones, the cheeky ones, the grumpy ones and, of course, the posers!
The paintings are inspired by my own reference photography and real encounters with animals in conservation-focused zoos and wildlife parks across the UK and Europe. I spend time watching the animals and waiting for those little moments of personality to appear. Sometimes it’s a curious glance, a dramatic pose or an expression that makes me laugh, and those are often the moments that become the best paintings.
I work in acrylics, oils and mixed media, changing my approach depending on the animal and the feeling I want to capture. Many of the animals featured are endangered or vulnerable species, so alongside celebrating their personalities, I hope the work encourages people to appreciate them and think about the importance of protecting them.
