TITLE: Lovers’ Tiff
YEAR: 2025
INSPIRATION: During a visit to Blackpool Zoo, I came across this brilliantly colourful pair of lorikeets mid disagreement. Perched side by side, they sat with their heads turned away from each other, feathers fluffed and beaks firmly shut, each refusing to be the first to make up. It was such a perfectly human moment, full of attitude and silent protest, that I couldn’t stop smiling. I loved how their vivid plumage still shimmered in harmony, even as they sulked in opposite directions. I knew I had to paint them just like that, caught in a little lovers’ tiff, but still unmistakably a pair.
