TITLE: Quiet Contemplation
YEAR: 2026
INSPIRATION: This painting was inspired by a Silvery Gibbon I saw at Blackpool Zoo, sitting quietly near the glass with his knees tucked up to his chest. Unlike some of the more energetic moments I’ve captured at the zoo, there was something so peaceful about watching him simply sit and observe the world around him. He seemed completely lost in thought, and for a moment it felt as though we were sharing a quiet space together, just watching each other. Silvery Gibbons are highly social animals, living in small family groups and communicating through their distinctive songs, which can carry across the forest. Yet in this moment, he was completely silent, giving me the impression that there was something far more important occupying his mind. I found myself wondering what he could possibly be thinking about.
