About the Exhibition

Wild Lives brings together expressive mixed media and oil portraits inspired by my own reference photography and real encounters with animals in conservation focused zoos across the UK and Europe.

Wild Lives celebrates the beauty, character and vulnerability of wildlife. The work highlights endangered species, working animals and those that are often overlooked, inviting visitors to pause, connect and reflect on the animals we share our world with. Through bold colour, layered textures and energetic mark making, my aim is to spark empathy and encourage conversations around conservation and the importance of protecting these species.

This exhibition is a significant moment in my artistic journey, and I’m proud to be sharing it in a gallery that plays such an important role in Oldham’s cultural life.

About The Artist

I’m a wildlife artist based in Oldham. My work focuses on expressive portraits of endangered and often overlooked species, inspired by my own reference photography and real encounters with animals in conservation focused zoos. I’m a committee member of the Friends of Gallery Oldham and the lead organiser behind GO! Artists – Oldham Art Fair, the gallery’s first artist led fair. I also run a community board game group at Royton Library for older people which offers connection and helps to reduce loneliness. Supporting the local art scene and the wider Oldham community is at the heart of everything I do.

Private View

I’ll be hosting a private view on 5th September 2026, bringing together local government representatives, conservation organisations, the zoos whose animals feature in the work, and members of the press. It’s a brilliant opportunity to celebrate both local creativity and the species represented in the exhibition.
