TITLE: The Mane Event
YEAR: 2025
INSPIRATION: This painting was inspired by a golden-headed lion tamarin I met at London Zoo… easily one of the most majestic little primates I’ve ever seen. Its hair was rich with fiery orange tones, like a miniature lion with a spark of mischief. As we walked through the monkey house, this striking creature sat calmly on the railing, close enough to touch, yet completely unbothered by our presence. There was something in its expression… unfazed, but deep in thought, like it had secrets to keep. That glowing mane was unforgettable, it wasn’t just the colour that caught me, it was the quiet confidence, the stillness, and the sense that this tiny creature had something important to say.
