TITLE: Threatened Wildlife
YEAR: 2021
INSPIRATION: This piece not only celebrates but also highlights some of Britains most endangered animals, all of these cute little creatures are supporting each other, which is the core message behind this piece. I hope that this painting raises awareness of how vulnerable some of our British wildlife is and that if we want to continue to take joy from nature then we must start supporting it. I dedicated quite some time in to researching the UK’s most endangered species, I decided to place each chosen animal in order of how vulnerable they are to draw further attention to their fragility. Unfortunately the European Wolf holding all the other animals up is regionally extinct but he’s doing a great job of helping his furry friends. Animals from top to bottom…Brandt’s Bat = Data deficient (unknown), Harvest Mouse = Near threatened, Hedgehog = Vulnerable, Red Squirrel = Endangered, Eurasian Beaver = Critically endangered, European Wolf = Regionally extinct
