TITLE: Flamingo
YEAR: 2016
INSPIRATION: Created as a set of two, along with my Ostrich painting, this work celebrates the elegance of this long necked creature. My work focuses mainly on my love of all animals, however at this point I hadn’t created many pieces dedicated to birds, I decided on the flamingo and ostrich as they’re such interesting looking creatures. Over the years I’ve developed my own style in order to create my animal paintings, I use acrylic paints as a chaotic background, with soft pastels bringing the subject matter to life. I decided to use a thin canvas to highlight how truly long the necks of these birds are.
