TITLE: King Of The World
YEAR: 2025
INSPIRATION: This painting was inspired by a moment of pure joy at Edinburgh Zoo. I was watching the rock hopper penguins when one suddenly waddled up to the edge of the pool, stretched out his flippers, closed his eyes, and just stood there, his chest was puffed out and he was completely owning the moment. It was impossible not to think of that iconic scene from Titanic, Jack on the bow of the ship, arms wide, shouting “I’m the king of the world!” There was something so wonderfully theatrical about it, like he knew exactly what he was doing. I couldn’t resist capturing that feeling…the confidence, the drama, and the sheer delight of being alive.
